SP #013: A House of Prayer for All Nations

Was Jesus serious when he quoted this OT verse?

Quote of the Week:

“Revival begins in the heart of a praying saint. It is not preached up; it is prayed down.”

— E.M. Bounds

Scripture Passages:

1. “My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Isaiah 56:7)

2. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

3. “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” (Psalm 145:18)

Food For Thought:

God’s design for His people has always been to dwell in His presence, to hear His voice, and to partner with Him in His redemptive work through prayer. Isaiah 56:7 reminds us that God’s house—His church—should be defined as a place of prayer, not merely activity or programs.

The promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is an invitation to all who are called by His name: humble yourselves, seek His face, and repent. Revival is not a flash of excitement; it’s birthed in brokenness and sustained through prayer. Psalm 145:18 reassures us that when we draw near to God with honest, fervent prayer, He responds.

What would it look like for your family, church, and community to truly become a house of prayer? Imagine the ripple effects of God’s Spirit moving through a praying church—bringing healing, renewal, and transformation. Revival starts when we take God at His Word and commit to praying His promises back to Him.

Prayer Prompt:

Heavenly Father,

We long to be a people of prayer, a people who humble ourselves, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways. Forgive us for our apathy and distractions. Teach us to make Your house—a house of prayer—not just a building but in our hearts, our homes, and our churches. Lord, would You bring healing to our land? Let Your Spirit spark a revival that reaches every nation, every tribe, and every tongue. May it begin with us.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Worship Song of the Week:

Engagement Challenge:

Find a physical or symbolic place to dedicate as a “house of prayer” this week. It could be your living room, a corner of your office, or your church. Commit to spending intentional time there daily, praying for God to move in your family, your church, and your city.
